Nestled beneath towering Mount Index, this tiny town has big heart! The mining-era Bush HouseHotel has been refurbished and is once again the centerpiece of the community. Plan a hike to Heybrook Ridge Trail, a short, moderately steep hike that takes you through a rocky, moss-covered forest to an incredible view of nearby peaks. Just past Index, stop at the Espresso Chalet for a selfie with Bigfoot, and see a filming location for “Harry and the Hendersons” and the museum of Dr. Wrightwood (Don Ameche). Besides incredible coffee drinks and smoothies, you can get amazing views of Bridal Veil Falls!
